World Record? I think YES!

Little ol' Nacogdoches High School has broken a world record! Wipe that confused look off of your face that says, "What?! How can it be?? It's not possible!!" for it is a fact.

On last Friday night's football game Jacksonville arrived at Nac to play a game of football. Little did they know, it was the longest game in history (for high school). Yes ladies and gentleman, it is true. 12, count 'em, TWELVE rounds of overtime. Oh. Boy...

The account from the band: We were all ready to go. This was the last chance we could run through our contest drill before contest seeing as it was the next day. We were focused and it was the only thing on our minds, except for seniors who were focusing on the fact that it was their last home game *tear*. The rest of the band, however, sat in the stands, waited patiently as the seniors and their parents walked across the field, clapping at appropriate moments etc... Drill time came and went, as did the rest of the TIMED portion of the game. And then, it started, the longest overtime in history. At first we were psyched! 'This is so cool,' we thought, 'We still have a chance at winning!' Well those thoughts were quickly erased from our minds as the deliriousness set in. Many a comment were made about how we will die in this stadium from old age and natural causes and how our friends will grow up, get married, have a career and children but we will still be sitting here in the stands. Can you see the craziness yet? At one moment a drill team member offered one of us a blanket and the whole band began the Finding Nemo bit of "Mine! Mine! Mine! Mine! Mine!". Like savages we all lunged for the blanket and finding only one to be the winner. (My section leader and I commented that it was just like Lord of the Flies and promptly started characterising people as Jack, Simon, Piggy, and Ralph) By now we all had to go pee and were so tired that our eyelids drooped. We wanted to go home, feed our pets and be caressed by the comfort of our nice toasty beds. Then, we started dropping like flies. All of the flutes huddled together under several blankets and went to sleep as did other sections. ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzz.......... The game was finally over at 1:15 in the morning with contest only a few measly hours away. Jacksonville beat us 84-81. They made the playoffs and we couldn't care less. The End.

By the way, WE MADE A DIVISION ONE AT CONTEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
